Song of the Day: “God’s Country” by Lambrini Girls
Ahead of Lambrini Girls’ first-ever North American tour, the trio upped anticipation for its 10 dates opening for Amyl and the Sniffers with new song “God’s Country.”
“Great Britain/ Are you sure?,” sings guitarist Phoebe Lunny (she/they) in a righteously indignant addition to the multi-decades-spanning canon of politically-charged British punk.
Bassist Lilly Macieira (bass) and a balaclava-wearing mystery person on drums (billed hilariously as Banksy) round out the trio. Prior songs of note dealt with rampant sexism (“Lads Lads Lads,” “Boys in the Band”) and patriarchal social norms (“Help Me I’m Gay,” “TERF Wars”).
As already referenced, Lambrini Girls’ first trek across the US and Canada will be highlighted by a handful of gigs with Amyl and the Sniffers, including a two-night stay in Los Angeles. See the trio’s tour itinerary below.
