No Spectators began in 2023 as a short-run print zine written and edited by Addie Unlikely.
Addie is a longtime music journalist, with bylines for Rolling Stone, Myspace, She Shreds, Bitch, the Flagpole (Athens, GA), Creative Loafing (Atlanta) and The Scene (Nashville). From 2020 to 2024, she wrote about country music, television, films, fashion and country lifestyle for Wide Open Country. After being laid off in March 2024, she figured that writing about music she actually gives a shit about might be worth another try.
The online version of No Spectators launched on March 27, 2024. What began as a platform for the (short-lived) Song of the Day as well as the occasional news story will expand over time to include interviews, historical content and other features.
No Spectators focuses on the garage and egg varieties of punk. However, our coverage will include other forms of DIY music and self-expression.
